The Hankamer Story:

This year's Hill Country Amateur Championship seemed like it was designed for the Hankamers.  Dalton Hankamer won the event in blazing fashion.  The soon-to-be sophomore at the University of San Diego broke both the Competitive Course Record of 67 by two shots (65) and the Tournament Scoring Record of 137 (-7) by one shot (136, -8) in route to his victory.  Dalton's younger brother, Dallas, who will start high school next year fired a two-day total of 142 (-2) which left him tied for 5th place.  The shot of the tournament goes to Dallas who made a double-eagle (2) on the par 5 first hole Saturday.  Manny Bhakta was hot on Dalton's tail coming into the second round.  Trailing by 3 shots after the first round, Bhakta was able to pick up 2 shots on Dalton on the front nine.  The tournament became a slug-fest starting on the 12th hole.  The battle lasted seven holes with the players trading blows, but Dalton was able to outlast Bhakta to secure a 2-stroke victory.  Congratulations Dalton on your well-deserved victory.  Good luck to Dalton and Dallas on their promising upcoming careers.
